About

Thoughtful audio help, built around clarity, care and good judgment.

Roman Empire is a Netherlands-based creative audio studio led by Roman den Houdijker. The work feels calm, capable and easy to hand over, with a focus on spoken-word audio that needs careful editing, cleanup, pacing and polish.

Philosophy

What the work is built on.

Good audio work is rarely about showing off. It is about listening carefully, making strong choices, and taking enough care that the end result feels natural rather than overworked.

  • Editing should support the story, not get in its way
  • Clients should be able to hand off the technical side with confidence
  • Audio should come back clearer, smoother and easier to live with
Background

Roman den Houdijker

Roman is an audio professional from the Netherlands with around 9 years of experience and a background in sound engineering. He studied at the Dutch Pop Academy and has worked across podcasts, spoken-word formats, audiobooks and other voice-led projects. The thread running through the work is simple: make spoken audio feel clear, well-paced and easy to trust.

How It Feels

What working together should feel like.

  • Clear communication without loads of jargon
  • A calmer process than trying to figure everything out alone
  • Careful handling of detail-heavy audio work
  • A finish that sounds natural, not overly processed
Point of View

Good audio is often about judgment as much as technique.

Better gear can help, but most of the real difference comes from pacing, cleanup, restraint and knowing what the project actually needs.
